FUNDICION FONTANA is a family foundry dedicated to the art of bronze. Prestige,
dedication and quality define our work. With seventy years of family tradition and keeping
the old European method of sand casting though using the most modern techniques and tools,
they lead us to acquire the highest quality in the art of bronze.
Today we are 3 generations of the Fontanas family trying to keep alive this
artistic activity. Since the middle of 2001, we are working at our own foundry built
completely by our direction and design. Modern tools and technology are settled to share
the same space with old tradition and methods of foundry inherited long time ago by PEDRO
FONTANA - the founder.
Every day, PEDRO, his son CARLOS and his grandsons CARLOS ANDRES and CHRISTIAN enjoy
what we are proud of: bringing together foundry techniques and the art of bronze.

In 1933, PEDRO FONTANA joined a bronze foundry named "CASA PLÁ" where he
began working at the age of 14. Being just one block from home in "Boedo"
neighborhood -City of Buenos Aires- he started to learn bronze techniques as an apprentice
while learning the alphabet at school. But he was amazed with the wonder of fire and
sparks brought from older times. By the end of the XIX century, his foundry masters,
Miguel Plá and Angel Revuelta, brought to Argentina ancient bronze foundry techniques
from Catalunia -Spain- where the art of bronze was transferred and learned from
generations to generations in Europe.
Around the '30s, "CASA PLÁ" became the most prestigious bronze foundry in
Argentina, if not in whole South America. Its high quality and fine art were mostly
recognized by sculptors and customers throughout the years, and in the meantime, PEDRO
FONTANA was improving his skills. Soon he became chief of the foundry, leading those
so-called "years of gold", and after then he got a partnership in the company.
By the end of 1991, after more than 50 years of working progress, CASA PLÁ closed its
doors and the best bronze foundry got to its end.
However, PEDRO FONTANA was never to stop. He continued working at different foundries
but this time on his own, by renting workshop's rooms and hiring personnel. By the summer
of 1994, his grandson CARLOS ANDRES FONTANA began working and learning from him.
In January 2001, after several years of planning, the family FONTANA decided to begin
building their own foundry workshop. It took 18 months of work, taking into account
Argentina's crisis and devaluation. CARLOS FONTANA -PEDRO´s son- also joined the team,
giving his great experience not only as the manager of the company but also as a Chemical
Engineer.
The very first metal casting at the FONTANA´s foundry was made in July 2002. At this
new workshop, FONTANA's team gets the best of two worlds: old techniques and modern
devices, achieving the highest quality in the art of bronze.
FONTANA's team was complete when CHRISTIAN FONTANA, CARLOS ANDRES´ brother, joined the
foundry in December 2002, giving his experience in commerce, trading and marketing.

FUNDICION FONTANA makes masterpieces in bronze, as well as in other non-ferric metals
and special alloys. The main specialty is the SAND CASTING method, getting the highest
quality for the art of bronze. (See the SAND CASTING method).
Other methods such WAX CASTING are allowed, particularly for small pieces. Consult us for
